isa requirement for Queensland state sponsorship has been eased for PhD graduates, according to a recent announcement by the Queensland state government.
The announcement released that PhD graduates who completed 100 percent of their PhD in Queensland would not require a 12 month job offer when they apply for Queensland state sponsorship.
The change affects all occupations which are available for Australian migration. Especially, it facilitates Queensland PhD graduates who have an occupation not on the skilled occupation list (SOL) or who need extra points in order to satisfy the points based test for migration.
Under the Queensland government’s immigration guidelines, a state-sponsored visa can either be permanent or provisional with a pathway to permanent residency.
Currently, there are two separate lists for the purposes of state sponsorship maintained by Queensland Government, including the list for Subclass 190 Permanent State Sponsorship and the other for the Provisional Subclass 489 visa. Both lists are aimed at promoting the settlement of new migrants in regional areas of Queensland.
